Redfish Bite is Hot Hot Hot!!!

What a week of fishing it’s been here in Crystal River Florida. I would without a doubt say if its redfish your after, now is the time to experience this bite we’ve been on.  This week started off with a little bit of wind and some overcast weather that came in with the front.  The weather cooled off some and the fish sure were chewing.  I fished 4 days this week and each trip was able to hop on an excellent redfish bite.  October is usually the month that the schools of large overslot redfish group up.  We definitely capitalized on this, and had a few days where we lost count on reds.  Live shrimp has been my go to lately, just be patient with the pinfish as they peck at the shrimp. Here’s a few nice redfish that were landed on live shrimp on one of this weeks charters!

The Trout bite this week was a little on the slower side, but we worked and made some long drifts and picked up some nice fish.  The trout bite I believe will pick back up as the weather stabilizes and the true fall weather sets in.  My favorite way to target trout is using a popping cork.  The main reason is the loud noise the cork produces lets fish know there’s some action happening.  This noise can be heard from a ways away underwater, and you are now covering more water with your presentation.  To learn how to use a popping cork effectively, click HERE.

Overall it was a great week to be on the water and chasing some fish.  Beautiful morning sunrises and nice weather paired with this fishing is hard to beat.  If your looking to experience all of this first hand, give me a call at 352-634-2901.

Thanks and tight lines until next time,
